Time is Running Out to Avoid BC Speculation Tax
By Brad Richert March 25, 2019

As with 99% (citation required) of political issues, the new BC Speculation Tax is rampant with partisan controversy, armchair critiques and a solid mixture of intended and unintended, likely and unlikely consequences. Whether or not you agree or disagree, have to pay or not have to pay, the deadline of March 31, 2019 is upon us.

Our own concern is mainly for those British Columbians that haven’t yet filled out the quick form to help them avoid paying a 0.5% of their property value (plus more later on) simply because they didn’t fill out the form. According to a recent report, 230,000 homeowners still haven’t filled it out

If you’re reading this and you haven’t spent the 120-180 seconds it takes to declare your likely exemption (since, according to the BC government, 99% of us are – it says so on their website), you should click on this big massive button:

For your reference, here is our ever growing list of websites and articles dedicated to additional information on the tax. Of course, if these don’t help and you require some assistance, we’re always here to help! Just call 604-245-3200 or use the contact form at the bottom of this page!
